Emigration – In the Path of Allah

He who emigrates (from his home) in the Cause of Allâh, will find on earth many dwelling places and plenty to live by. And whosoever leaves his home as an emigrant unto Allâh and His Messenger, and death overtakes him, his reward is then surely incumbent upon Allâh. And Allâh is Ever Oft¬Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Islam prohibits drinking, do you know why?

Islam prohibits just not drinking, but any form intoxication. If you would like to know why, trauma surgeon Dr Thomas Esposito at Loyola University Health System has a reason .According him “Alcohol impairs the physical ability to walk & to drive.”

“It also impairs judgement capabilities, reflexes & coordination. It is nothing more than a socially acceptable , over-the-counter stimulant/depressant. ”

    Islamic dress code

”Oh Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you in the same manner as he got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame.” [Al-A'raf 7:27]

Excerpts from article written on islamicbotique.com regarding conditions of muslim dress code :

    1. Clothing must cover the entire body, only the hands and face may remain visible (According to some Fiqh Schools).
    2. The material must not be so thin that one can see through it.
    3. The clothing must hang loose so that the shape / form of the body is not apparent.
    4. The female clothing must not resemble the man’s clothing.
    5. The design of the clothing must not resemble the clothing of the non-believing women.
    6. The design must not consist of bold designs which attract attention.
    7. Clothing should not be worn for the sole purpose of gaining reputation or increasing one’s status in society.

Allah has stated in the Quran that women must guard their modesty.
Say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty ; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear thereof. ” [Quran : 24.31]

Say to the believing man that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty ; that will make for greater purity for them, and God is well acquainted with all they do. ” [Quran : 24.30]

A nice article on Albalagh.net, written by Khalid Baig explains the importance and necessity of dress code in Islam.May Allah guide us.

    Alchemy of Happiness:Al-Ghazali

Following post is an excerpt from the first chapter of Imam Al-Ghazali’s book “Alchemy of Happiness” titled knowledge of self.

“Knowledge of self is the key to the knowledge of God, according to the saying: “He who knows himself knows God,”  and, as it is written in the Koran, “We will show them Our signs in the world and in themselves, that the truth may be manifest to them.” Now nothing is nearer to thee than thyself, and if thou knowest not thyself how canst thou know anything else? If thou sayest “I know myself,” meaning thy outward shape, body, face, limbs, and so forth, such knowledge can never be a key to the knowledge of God. Nor, if thy knowledge as to that which is within only extends so far, that when thou art hungry thou eatest, and when thou art angry thou attackest someone, wilt thou progress any further in this path, for the beasts are thy partners in this? But real self-knowledge consists in knowing the following things: What art thou in thyself, and from whence hast thou come? Whither art thou going, and for what purpose hast thou come to tarry here awhile, and in what does thy real happiness and misery consist? Some of thy attributes are those of animals, some of devils, and some of angels, and thou hast to find out to which of these attributes are accidental and which essential. Till thou knowest this, thou canst not find out where thy real happiness lies.”

    Chapter002

    Verse248

And (further) their Prophet said to them: “A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith.”

    Surah Al-Balad

Verse 11. But he has not attempted to pass on the path that is steep. 12. And what will make you know the path that is steep13. Freeing a neck 14. Or giving food in a day full of Masghabah,15. To an orphan near of kin.16. Or to a Miskin cleaving to dust. 17. Then he became one of those who believed and recommended one another to patience, and recommended one another to compassion.18. They are those on the Right.

    Hadith

    Narrated ‘Adi bin Hatim:

While I was in the city of the Prophet, a man came and complained to him (the Prophet, ) of destitution and poverty. Then another man came and complained of robbery (by highwaymen). The Prophet said, “Adi! Have you been to Al-Hira?” I said, “I haven’t been to it, but I was informed about it.” He said, “If you should live for a long time, you will certainly see that a lady in a Howdah traveling from Al-Hira will (safely reach Mecca and) perform the Tawaf of the Ka’ba, fearing none but Allah.” I said to myself, “What will happen to the robbers of the tribe of Tai who have spread evil through out the country?” The Prophet further said. “If you should live long, the treasures of Khosrau will be opened (and taken as spoils).” I asked, “You mean Khosrau, son of Hurmuz?” He said, “Khosrau, son of Hurmuz; and if you should live long, you will see that one will carry a handful of gold or silver and go out looking for a person to accept it from him, but will find none to accept it from him. And any of you, when meeting Allah, will meet Him without needing an interpreter between him and Allah to interpret for him, and Allah will say to him: ‘Didn’t I send a messenger to teach you?’ He will say: ‘Yes.’ Allah will say: ‘Didn’t I give you wealth and do you favors?’ He will say: ‘Yes.’ Then he will look to his right and see nothing but Hell, and look to his left and see nothing but Hell.”

‘Adi further said: I heard the Prophet saying, “Save yourself from the (Hell) Fire even with half a date (to be given in charity) and if you do not find a half date, then with a good pleasant word.” ‘Adi added: (later on) I saw a lady in a Howdah traveling from Al-Hira till she performed the Tawaf of the Ka’ba, fearing none but Allah. And I was one of those who opened (conquered) the treasures of Khosrau, son of Hurmuz. If you should live long, you will see what the Prophet Abu-l-Qasim had said: ‘A person will come out with a handful. of gold…etc.
